Snow Day in New York

Snow Day

While everyone was freaking out about the Blizzard of 2017, I was preparing to photograph the major snowstorm. I was inspired by photos from last year's blizzard that shut down NYC. This year, I braved the wet snow and snagged some shots in Chinatown early in the morning.

I will admit that I was not prepared this year.  My camera is not waterproof and I did not properly take care of it. My lens could fogged up and the condensation could caused permanent damage. Also, I was not wearing the proper clothing for being out in the wet snow for hours. These are lessons I've learn for next year!

Year of the Rooster!

<Chinatown 01

Welcome to the Year of the Rooster! There are all kinds of celebration around New York, but the main highlight starts in Chinatown, Manhattan. The local streets in Chinatown are blocked off for the crowds watching lion dances and confetti poppers.  This year, I decided to brave the crowd and snap some shots of the celebration along Bayard Street.

The kids are the cutest! They remind me of when I would skip grade school to see the lion dances. The lions would climb on ladders from store to store. I would throw poppers on the ground and squeal every time they popped.  These are the best experiences growing up as an Asian American.
